Mia De Palma
Hi, I'm Mia.
I'm a registered psychologist and Clinical Psychology Registrar with a passion for supporting women and mothers to reconnect with themselves.
I believe that change happens when we create enough safety to meet ourselves with compassion and curiosity. From there, we can begin living in ways that feel aligned with who we truly are.

This work is not one size fits all. It begins with gently exploring your story and the beliefs and unmet needs that are getting in the way of living the life you would love to be living. We will begin noticing what sensations are showing up in your body, using the breath and other mindfulness and self-compassion techniques to bring greater safety to your body and nervous system.
I deeply believe that our thoughts, emotions and behaviours make sense in the context of our life experiences, and the ways that we have learnt to be in relationship and to keep ourselves safe in the world.
My work is informed by somatic approaches, internal family systems (IFS) therapy, compassion-focussed therapy, schema therapy, mentalization based therapy and acceptance and committment therapy.
Alongside my clinical work, I have undertaken research exploring the transition to parenthood and have published peer-reviewed research in the field of perinatal mental health, coparenting and reflective functioning. This research continues to shape the way I think about relationships, emotional wellbeing and the transition to parenthood.
More than anything, I believe mothers deserve to feel supported, understood and held.
As a late-diagnosed ADHDer, I know how different life feels when we understand our brains and begin to meet ourselves with more compassion. I have a particular interest in working with women navigating anxiety, perfectionism, self-criticism, relationship and parenting challenges, neurodivergence, and the transition to motherhood. I also have significant experience working with trauma, including attachment trauma and am undertaking additional training currently in birth trauma.
When I'm not in the therapy room, you'll usually find me spending time with my family and practising breathwork or yin yoga.
